This is my most recent work so far.  I first came up with the idea for this image from the film "Predator."  I havn't seen that movie in a few years now, but I remember the time Arnie was held up by the neck from the predator.  When I saw that movie first I was clued to it, the predator was such a terrifying creature.  You could not see him, he came from nowhere and could kill the best trained and armed soldiers in a second.  It comes as no surprise several successful games have been made based on the predator.

I have an interest in history, especially the history of my own country.  I come from Ireland, it is a country with a long history and unique culture.  I remember as a kid learning about the Viking raids on Celtic, christian monks in pre-medieval times.  The Vikings would kill, plunder and steal coming from across the sea in their infamous longships.  The monks would have treasures and metal artifacts which are now considered priceless.  For example, the Ardagh Chalice, Book of Kells and Tara Brooch.

This image is inspired by the barbaric Vikings and the helpless monks.  I thought of adding more characters to be background, I may do yet.  Although I have spent quite a lot of time painting this image and perhaps its time to move on and do something different.  A computer game based on this image would be amazing.  Imaging it, it would be similar to Lord of The Rings.  However, JRR Tolkein based LOTR on Nordic and Irish Celtic myth folklore only changing it into English folklore.  Irish ancient history and tales are just as interesting if not better than Tolkein's work.  Don't get me wrong, I really liked  the LOTRs movies and I read half of The Two Towers, but it was too slow paced for my liking.
